I became a mini “hajjah” for a day on Wednesday, Dec 3rd. The teachers had basically converted our assembly hall into a mini mecca, arafah ,etc. They built the mini kaaba which was beautifully decorated, mini safa and marwa, etc. There were 9 stations for us to visit and experience hajj rituals:- Ihram, Tawaf, Zam-zam, Sa’ee, Arafah, Muzdalifah, Hair-cutting, Jamaraat, and Udhiya (Qurban).
Offcourse all this are simulated so we didn’t actually throw real stones nor perform Qurban. We went around the kaabah 7 times, walk between mini safa -marwa 7 times, drank diluted zam zam water from the water dispenser, threw alumninium foil balls to simulate throwing of stones and took photos with pictures of sheeps at the udhiya station among other things. It was a wonderful experience but very tiring .. I cannot imagine what the pilgrims have to go thru during the actual hajj.
Kudos to the team of teachers for their hardwork, detailed planning and preparation and making the hajj program such a memorable event. So sorry I don’t have pictures of the actual event… next year i’ll make sure my parents be there to take photos.
