Since we were left with practically nothing to do on Saturday (cancelled both lunch with Auntie Pauline and Shaayla for fear we will spread the cold virus and my pink eye to them and cancelled our trip to De Young Museum since Abah was sick), Mamma decided we should explore the neighbourhood for the sole purpose of collecting leaves.

Lots of leaves had fallen on the ground since it’s now winter and some of them are so colourful. It was fun picking the leaves and I identified them by their sizes and colours. Luckily our community’s gardener wasn’t working that day otherwise he might have thought I was vying for his job.

Mamma saved the best part for last.. Once we reached home she laid all the leaves on our patio table and then she disappeared for awhile only to return a few minutes later with a stack of paper, glue and paints. Yippeeee I get to glue the leaves on the paper. It was messy and sticky but FUN!

And then I get to do leaves printing but it didn’t turn out too well so Mamma picked an orange that had fallen in the backyard cut it into half and let me do fruit printing! I spent almost half an hour doing fruit printing in the backyard while Mamma was preparing lunch in the kitchen.

Things always happen when I’m left unsupervised.. the next minute Mamma popped into the backyard .. she saw my hand and arms were all in red paint but all was good.. my shirt and pants didn’t get dirty… phewwww.

28|Nov|2006 1Wow! Your Mama is so efficient. She really let u do the leaf and fruit printing. You are such a lucky gal Alya!
We are having loads of fun at Houston too. Especially during the Thanksgiving holidays. Saw the parade, went to the beach at Galveston and lazing around. Tell Mama, she must open a preschool centre soon. She got all the talents and skills to operate and manage one.

29|Nov|2006 4Have you tried printing with other fruits, like starfruit? Oh wait … that’s a tropical fruit right? Do they have it in California?

30|Nov|2006 5Aunty Nora : Thank You for the leaf and fruit printing idea
I don’t think my mum can open a preschool.. she’s actually very bad in arts and worse cannot sing.. so how to lead the kids to sing in class?:P
Eili: We have lots of potatoes at home, I’ll suggest to Mamma to do some potato printing soon!
Aunty Su : Atas block pun okay!! I’d love to join your class if you really set up a arty crafty class at home.
Ajab : Ohh starfruit is nice but I think if Mamma can find it over here.. she’d rather eat the fruit than let me play with it. But we do have rambutans and durians here .. very expensive ones actually.
